In 1233 a Dominican Friary was founded in Inverness. The friars were like monks but instead of withdrawing from the world they went out to preach. Dominican monks were called blackfriars because of the colour of the clothing that they wore.
Built in 1793, Blackfriars is a newly refurbished bar, restaurant & hotel. Proudly serving locally sourced produce in Inverness’ historic Old Town.
